Our people

We work every day with passion and enthusiasm, at sea and on land, to provide our customers with the highest-quality fish!

The De Boer brothers, together with their valued employees, form the Ekofish Group. The brothers and their team work every day with passion and dedication to provide their customers with the highest-quality fish — some of them have been doing so for decades!

Louwe de Boer

From a young age, I have been involved in fishing. I personally witnessed the rise and golden years of the fishing industry in the ’80s and ’90s. The difficult period the sector faced over the past 10 years pushed my brothers and me to continue fishing in an innovative and sustainable way. These changes taught us to work with greater awareness of the sea and the product — fish. This has brought so much inspiration that I can now proudly pass on the profession of “Fisherman” to my sons, who are already active in our company and contributing to a bright future.

Albert de Boer

I have a son who has wanted to become a fisherman from a very young age. And what could be more meaningful than being able to say, as a father, that I have contributed to a sustainable future for the fishing industry? His future in fishing. Isn’t that ultimately what you do it for?

Willem de Boer

Fishing is my passion and my life. I’ve never done anything else, nor would I want to. But that means you must invest in the future. Not trying to catch everything, but only harvesting the ‘interest.’ That is what I want to do for the next generation.

Hendrik de Boer

As the youngest brother, I was destined to become a fisherman. Not that I disliked it, but all the problems and regulations in the fishing industry did intimidate me. Is there even a future in fishing? After all, people need to eat — healthy food. Fish is a wonderful and nutritious food source. By fishing, you help provide people with healthy food. So isn’t that more than enough reason to become — and wholeheartedly remain — a fisherman for the future?

Klaas de Boer

On board, I have always immersed myself in the technical side of things. Besides fishing, technology determines the efficiency of your vessel. Trying to reduce fuel consumption is a challenge I work on every week. Even small adjustments can lead to lower fuel use and reduced CO₂ emissions. Isn’t that also part of working sustainably?

Our Fleet

The Ekofish Group fleet consists of modern vessels, all equipped for twin-rig fishing. The ships are fully outfitted to process and preserve the catch on board in the best possible way.
